Only current Queen's students should select "Internal" when submitting application. If an external or interest student submits application as "Internal", your application will be denied and you will need to submit the correct application. Non-Queen's (external) students should select "Certificate in Law - Continuing Studies" or Interest "Continuing Studies - Interest". Please review application instructions in Step 1.
Applications for the Certificate in Law program are accepted throughout the year.
Admission criteria for the Certificate in Law is located below. All applications are processed through the Queen’s Undergraduate Admissions Office and there is a $100 application that can be paid by VISA, Mastercard or pre-paid VISA. NOTE: Credit/Debit is NOT accepted as a payment method.

IMPORTANT: All correspondence for the Certificate in Law is sent to your Queen's email and not email that you used when submitting application. Students will be issued a netID from Queen's with instructions on how to activate. Once you activate your netID, you can access your Queen's email through Microsoft Outlook (https://office365.queensu.ca).

Students must be highly proficient in the English language, meeting minimum undergraduate degree language proficiency requirements;
If you are a Queen’s student:
• A minimum CGPA of 2.60 or higher
• Successful completion of one year in a full-time undergraduate degree program
If you are a full-time undergraduate student or have completed university:
• Successful completion of at least one year in a full-time undergraduate degree program with a minimum CGPA of 2.60, or
• Successful completion of a degree program at a recognized university with a minimum CGPA of 2.60
• If you want to transfer the Law courses towards your degree, a Letter of Permission is required
If you are a full-time college student or have completed college:
• Successful completion of a two-year diploma or two years of a three-year full-time advanced diploma program with a minimum CGPA of 2.90
• To have Law courses count towards your degree or diploma, a Letter of Permission is required from your home institution
You need to provide documentation (official transcript) during the application process for the Certificate in Law. Post-secondary institutions vary in terms of their diploma and degree offerings and GPA standings. The Certificate in Law is an undergraduate program and is not eligible for credit to a professional degree program.
The non-degree Law interest category is designed for those who want to take courses for interest purposes.
For students wanting to complete the Certificate in Law program, you may be matriculated after completing two courses at the 700-level and providing you meet the Faculty of Law's academic progression policy.
For those interested in applying as a non-degree Law interest, applicants must be over 21 years of age in the calendar year of admission. The Interest category is not intended as a pathway to apply to on-campus studies and students are unable to enroll in courses outside the Faculty of Law.
